Planting mangroves at Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka.

Have had and interesting time checking out the mangrove restoration programe at Kalpitiya, where we both planted a mangrove seed. We are hoping to get regular updates on our trees as they grow. Have seen some wonderful programs being run by the locals of the Rekawa village in the south of Sri Lanka, to provide income, but also educate people about conservation issues.
We were fortunate to be able to witness a green turtle laying eggs on the beach not far from our accommodation. Dinner that night was delayed until after 10pm. Have met some very committed and interesting locals and lived amongst them for a few days.
